TV Sync Lights Showing the Wrong Colours? Start With These Checks
If a blue sky produces a red glow behind your TV, don't factory-reset everything yet. First work out whether the lights are seeing the wrong part of the picture, picking up reflected room light or receiving an unsupported video signal. Those problems need different fixes.
Use one familiar scene for every adjustment and change one setting at a time. Take a screenshot of the current app settings first. That gives you a way back when a well-meant tweak makes things worse.
Identify the symptom before changing settings
What you see | First thing to investigate |
Left-screen colours appear on the right | Strip direction and light-position mapping |
Colours change when a lamp switches on | Reflections or direct light entering a camera |
All colours have a similar warm or cool cast | Camera colour calibration, after checking reflections |
Menus sync but one HDR source doesn't | That source's output format and the sync box's support |
An HDMI box ignores the TV's native Netflix app | The source route; the box isn't receiving that video |
A moving scene looks wrong, but a paused scene is reasonable | Timing or performance, rather than colour calibration alone |
These are starting points, not a diagnosis. The checks below help separate them without deleting a working setup.
For camera kits, fix what the camera sees first
Look at the room from the camera's position. A ceiling light reflected in the screen or a bright lamp beside it can influence the captured picture. Temporarily switch that light off and repeat the same scene. Govee's T2 troubleshooting advice specifically recommends removing direct light and reflections before adjusting saturation and white balance in Govee Home.
Next, check the mount against your model's instructions. T2's dual camera is designed for the top of the TV, not the bottom. Moving it to hide it below the screen isn't an equivalent installation. Both T2 and 3 Lite exclude curved televisions in their product FAQs.
For Govee 3 Lite H6099, complete camera correction before colour adjustment. Govee notes that a slightly curved preview after correction can be normal; don't keep distorting the boundary just to make that preview look perfectly rectangular.
Now follow the calibration targets in your own app, keeping them on the displayed picture rather than the furniture or bezel. Only then adjust the available white-balance or saturation controls. There isn't a universal “correct” percentage that can account for every screen and room. Judge several scenes after each small change, not just one unusually colourful frame.

If the right colours appear in the wrong place
Check the strip's installed start point and direction against its manual. Don't peel it off immediately: first see whether the app's installation direction or layout differs from what you fitted.
In a Hue Bridge setup, compare each light's actual position with its position in the entertainment area. Hue's current setup guidance tells users to match the virtual room to the real arrangement. A lamp moved from one side of the sofa to the other needs that mapping reviewed.
For a useful check, display a still image with clearly different left and right halves. Then try a different top and bottom. This is a simple diagnostic exercise, not a colour-accuracy measurement. If the placement is wrong, changing saturation won't correct it. Our lightstrip sizing guide explains why buying an oversized strip and improvising its route can complicate the layout.

For HDMI, check the input and format
Confirm the source is connected through the sync box and that the correct input is selected. Govee's AI Sync Box Kit 2 documentation says it doesn't automatically switch between multiple connected sources.
If only HDR content fails, note the source's resolution, refresh rate and HDR format before making a temporary change. Test ordinary SDR playback as a comparison. A difference between SDR and HDR points towards the signal path or format support; it doesn't establish that the LEDs themselves are faulty.
Hue's compatibility matrix separates video passthrough from light sync and lists limits for specific colour-depth combinations. Use the column for your exact box. Keep the model number handy because “4K sync box” now covers different generations. Don't copy a fix written for another model without checking it applies.
If built-in TV apps don't work at all, stop adjusting colour controls. You need a supported TV app or camera route, or an external player feeding the HDMI box. The TV sync setup guide explains those choices.
If the problem is delay
When still scenes look reasonable but moving action trails behind, keep colour settings steady while investigating performance. For Hue desktop syncing, Hue's PC lightstrip FAQ recommends reviewing the desktop app's performance mode and the Bridge's placement. Test the same clip after each change.
Before contacting support, record the exact light and controller models, app and firmware versions, source device, video mode, and whether the problem affects every source. Include a short example showing the screen and lights together if you can do so without exposing personal information. That evidence is more useful than another full reset, especially when ordinary app control still works.
